Springtime Foods!

It is always good to eat foods that are in season as they are likely to have a higher nutrient content, are fresher and (hopefully) less expensive!  If we eat foods that are in season we also have more variety in our diet as we will change what we eat each season.

Some good fruit and vegies to eat in spring include:

Fruit: Cherries, Cumquat, Grapefruit, Kiwifruit, Lemons, Mandarins (Ellendale, Murcot), Melons, Nectarines, Oranges (Valencia), Papaya, Pawpaw, Plums, Strawberries

Vegetables: Artichokes, Asian greens (eg bok choy, choy sum), Asparagus, Avocado, Broad beans, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Chinese Cabbage, Cucumber, Leek, Mushroom, Potatoes, Silver beet, Spinach, Squash, Tomatoes, Watercress, Zucchini.
