Did you know this about Zinc?

Many people are currently self-prescribing supplements to help their immune system – especially Zinc!

This great mineral is essential for our bodies and involved in over 300 processes in our body including anti-viral activity, and improving and maintaining immunity.

But did you know this about Zinc?

* High doses can actually weaken your immune system.

* Zinc competes with Iron for absorption.

* There are different forms of Zinc – some better absorbed than others. Zinc bisglycinate is one that has been shown to have superior absorption compared to other forms of zinc.  It also has less side effects such as nausea, commonly experienced with zinc supplementation.

* You should take your Zinc supplement with food.

* If you are taking a Calcium supplement it may impair the absorption of Zinc (so take your Zinc separately to your Calcium supplement – at least 2 hours away).

* Zinc can even interfere with the pharmaceutical drugs you are taking.
